Today is my very lucky day - I received the AP900GTO! 3lq9n^,fHT ns

-s3a)mk#J([p I've purchased the mount from Anacortes. The process was smooth and the mount arrived as scheduled. According to the ads, I got the last AP900GTO for the 2008 run. It all started with UPS man knocking my door today and unloading all this stuff:z^0F4E(In

Sorry for the random shirt - I just had no time as I rushed to unpack the nine boxes. It is worth to mention that every box was easily liftable. There was nothing that I couldn't handle by myself.

The AP Keypad. Bigger than any keypads I saw before, this resembles an industrially rigged unit and vibrates the fluids of trust right out of the box. Keys are smooth and soft, comfortably aligned. The unit itself comes in the rubber wrap on it's sides to minimze harm if dropped or hit by the pier.

_6h[ ~ Y6uZ - The cigarette plug cable and the Y-cable for the mount drives. The cigarette plug cable isn't long - probably for the battery pack right under the mount. That perfectly suits me as I always use the Celestron PowerPack unit. What really shocks me is the quality of the cables and connectors. It's really the high end! Both cables have Bando Densen markings. Google search results with Bando Densen Co., Ltd located in Japan. All connectors are round, multi-pin, with metallic locks. Bye-bye RJ.
P ]aY/Z)m Q5D+^
)K ^'Z'};ob] - A set of wrenches! AP, how nice! Yes, I'm in Europe and I have all wrenches metric here. Includes lifetime warranty, quality rocks as well.

&zDD2O&\t*o$Md'a - Velcro strap - for cable works.

- The counterweight shaft plug. Anodized. Smells QUALITY. t!n's|d)A

b*eB9c2y-]h[{ - CD with the software - ASCOM drivers, PEMPro v2.0., PulseGuide and other. Haven't investigated this yet.

uQYi?j The manuals. Very friendly and intuitive. Covers anything needed to know about assembly, tuning and care. Honestly, the main mount manual is one of the best manuals I've ever seen in my life. It's only 32 pages in length, but full of info - just what is required. I originally feared about being not an accurate person enough to handle the mount of such high precision and quality, but after reading what the manual suggests to do and what I have to avoid, I realized I can handle it. I actually never met a manual that says so much about German equatorial mounts. Most of the manuals just end on the assembly and setup, but this one.. it says things like what sort of tension to apply when tightening the clutch on the gears, how to correctly move the mount, what parts shall I periodically lubricate, etc. That's great!
"v.h4m:T_+Y\#s6U0^
/f6QW'U(sv*f9r-_/m - Rotating pier adapter. Anodized. Allows to do 15 degree azimuth adjustments without the requirement to work with the bolts that hold the mount to the pier adapter. You just use the fine az. adjustments knobs and the pier adapter rotates with the mount. $`7n!~8F"?_:A

Man, it's an art. Brass fitting inside. Knobs are supplied with brass pins so you won't scratch the counterweight shaft. I hated to see my EQ6 and CG5 to have those marks on the shaft after some time. This thing works as I slided the counterweights a few times and couldn't see a hint of any scratches. The counterweight also fits the shaft as both were cut by diamond. Precision. :u1sFo&OE

F L%n qW`C9r - The 8" OD / 32" Height Portable AP Pier. This thing is huge. I expected it was smaller. While it's fantastically light, it is spacious. Now I have to explain my wife where half of our small apartment has gone. But, I am really happy with it. Assembles really quickly. Weights 44 lbs - all assembled, but for some reason it feels lighter than that.

In a separate box: ^-N?6U$X5sv

- The DEC axis. Beautifully finished. I was afraid it would be plain #FFFFFF white, but the color would be better described as a warmer milky. Has four clutches. Very quickly attaches to the RA axis as it has the self-centering dovetail.

And the whole mount assembled:

H;{_fe7C{ It's amazing to see how much attention was paid to small details. There are cable holders here and there to avoid cable problems. Knobs are of the right size, of the right material. Everything is on it's place. ]!k@Kw,]q

RJNlL9sX*b Now this mount is waiting for the Aries 10" MCT with Valery Deryuzhin l/10 ion milled optics. With Aries' Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector and a binoviewer, that should be a killer planetary setup with good possibilities for the DSO imaging. I realize the setup will be much more heavy than my C11ASGT, but I hope quality will pay back all the efforts. More reports to come. $T5z Q&L"\ N@}

"ijFa1Ot ` That's an awesome mount and will carry the 10" Mak-Cass without breaking a sweat. That scope will just scream on lunar and planetary observing. Here is your scope's AP sibling on an AP 900, 48" pier:'[1z ?%v&Rlzl;zXM!E

真够复杂的,没有固定观测点,组装一回得累死。

redfox_pd 2008-9-12 19:13

好几大箱子,存放都是个问题。不过做工确实精致。

这东西真是粗壮啊bbbb39
