Click here). I had tantilising hints during my trip to Clayton at Christmas time and during a couple of nights last year in September.

However on the weekend of 9-10th of May I was blessed with some lovely seeing and I obtained my best images of Jupiter to date.

9 {: U! ~' A1 J& P# Z. X9 Y* ^www.astroview.com.cnOn the night of the 9th the seeing was fairly variable early on, however as the night waned on, the seeing got better and better. The image below shows the back side of Jupiter and some interesting new features arising from the SEB upheaval of last year.

There are many new rafts and barges drifting around each of the equatorial belts and the revival of the SEB continues. The large festoon in the centre of the image is the only remaining large festoon from last appertion and it is putting on a spectacular display.

The image below shows the planet a bit further in rotation and the zone where the GRS is located coming into view. Of note is the huge disturbances in the SEB and the fine white disturbances in the NEB.

Then not to be outdone, the following night the seeing was even better and this time the appearance of the GRS made for a spectacular display. (Please see the image below) And; to boot the transit of the Jovian moon Io made the image come to life. This clearly represents my best efforts at imaging Jupiter to date. Io can be seen not as a flat lifeless dot but a small golden globe just near the border of the NEB and EQ belts. Also of interest is the small white rift that is very near Io. In fact over this part of the planet there is a lot of activity. The GRS is once again approaching Red jr and now another red spot has appeared directly to the right of the GRS. It is uncertain whether this will be consumed by the GRS or whether it will move back and away from the GRS in the coming weeks. Requests have been made to image this part of the planet by Jupos, however cloud and rain have hampered my efforts to date

' @9 I* k- |+ g: R天文望远镜器材评测和交流论坛The image below shows once again a further rotation of the planet and the extraordinary happenings in the southern part of the planet (seen at the top) The GRS also appears to have a spiral vortex. Io can be seen existing the transit of the planet to the left and there are some distinct albedo markings travelling from south to north on it. The barges in the NEB which are seen as dark brown seem to have small disturbances trailing off into the more northerly belts.
