I read somewhere in this forum that the SV102ED lens was manufactured by a Chinese manufacturer.  Does anyone know more about the new lens that Stellarvue is offering?

Vic Maris of Stellarvue would not state the exact type of glass being used in the new SV115T and just say it is not FPL-51. See his statement in

The most possible answer is that Vic has some manufacturer located in China produce the lens to SV's spec and then Vic lab tests (hopefully) each one of them. He also claims an individual star test is done on each assembled scope. 天文家园欢迎您！% J5 K8 L  C. R. t

Since Vic has a long time business relationship with United-Optics located in Kunming, I suspect the new lens is also fabricated by them.  Well even TV has a lot of stuff manufactured in far east, does the origin of one product really matter that much?  One example is that Synta has become the largest amateur astronomy telescope supplier in the world, as time passes by, people will forget their Synta scope comes from some unwanted origin. The bottom line is what really matters is what you see through the EP

SV的yahoo论坛上某些诋毁东方大国产的望远镜的论调有时真的看得很不爽。

I was curious about where the lens are manufactured. All the multiple lens/telescope producers had made me confused. And no, i'm not upgrading again.
